abstract

soil organic matter has positive consequences eht rof quality and productivityof soil and also environment, agricultural and biological sustainability and conservation ofbiodiversity and soil. organic matter plays an important role in the physical and chemicalprocesses of soil and thus, it is of a great effect on the spectral characteristics of soil. thisstudy was done in order to develop the mapping surface of soil organic carbon (oc) ofvarious land uses, particularly rangelands using remote sensing technology in dehaghan inthe south of isfahan. the data of irs-p6 and awifs satellites with 49 ground controlpoints and accuracy less than 0.3 pixels were recorded. stratified random sampling methodwas used. soil samples were collected from the depth of 0-15 cm at each point. bulkdensity of soil samples was determined according to hunk method and oc% wascomputed by walky-black method. for the preparation of land use map and false colorcomposite (fcc), the supervised classification was conducted using maximum likelihoodalgorithm and optimized index factor (oif). in order to map the surface soil oc, themultivariate regression model was fitted using band 2 (red band) as the dependent variable.red band had a relationship with surface soil oc in the study area. relationship of the redband and surface soil oc content was negative. irs-p6 and awifs satellite imagesaccording to the cover of spectral and spatial resolution were considered as a usefulmethod for the preparation of land use map and the map of surface soil oc levels in thestudy area.

Dust source mapping using satellite imagery and machine learning models

Predicting dust sources area and determining the affecting factors is necessary in order to prioritize management and practice deal with desertification due to wind erosion in arid areas. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the application of three machine learning models (including generalized linear model, artificial neural network, random forest) to predict the vulnerability of dust cent...

Application of Different Methods of Decision Tree Algorithm for Mapping Rangeland Using Satellite Imagery (Case Study: Doviraj Catchment in Ilam Province)

Using satellite imagery for the study of Earth's resources is attended by manyresearchers. In fact, the various phenomena have different spectral response inelectromagnetic radiation. One major application of satellite data is the classification ofland cover. In recent years, a number of classification algorithms have been developed forclassification of remote sensing data. One of the most nota...

Changes in Soil Organic Carbon, Nitrogen and Phosphorus in Modified and Native Rangeland Communities (Case study: Sisab Rangelands, Bojnord)

Converting the native rangelands to simplified agronomic communities causessome changes in soil carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus. Establishing of perennial plantcommunities on formerly cultivated rangelands is expected to stabilize soil properties andincrease the amount of C, N, P stored in rangeland soils, but there is little information on whatplant communities are the most effective for impro...

Monitoring of organic matter and soil salinity by using IRS - LissIII satellite data in the Harat plain, of Yazd province

Current study monitored Electerical Conductivity (EC) as soil salinity index and Organic Matter (OM) in the area of Harat in Yazd, Iran, through remote sensing technology with high spatial and spectral resolution. The images were selected from IRS, LISS III satellites between the years 2008 and 2012. After preprocessing and analyzing the images, the relationship between parameters of (EC) an...
